modulART
Modul-Art is a truly unique conceptual innovation designed by Leda Luss Luyken. It brings motion (change over time) as well as interaction by the ‘user’ into a medium which is otherwise stationary (fixed in time).
We like to compare Modul-Art to video games – in its essence, a video game is comprised of a series of pictures, like a movie, only that you as the user, no longer an observer, define the outcome. Modul-Art is exactly the same in material form.
Each panel can be replaced with any other panel within ‘the grid’ and also rotated in 4 different orientations.

Every ‘original’ modulArt painting consists of a number of 60x60cm canvas panels signed by and created in Acrylic and Oil by Leda Luss Luyken. Each panel comes pre-mounted in the proprietary steel The frame designed by Peppermint Products. Only one original sample of each painting is in existence along with a certificate of authenticity.
A reproduction module is printed on a 60 x 60 cm panel, and pre-mounted inside a ModulArt frame, exactly the same as the original version of the painting. Each art module is hand signed by Leda Luss Luyken on the back side of the panel. The quantity of prints are limited by the duration for which this reproduction are sold.
The modulArt framing system relies on a grid of small magnets which you attach to your wall. Magnets, screws, and dowels needed to create the grid are included in your delivery. You will need to drill 4 small 5mm holes per panel into your wall.
Each module comes pre-mounted in its own steel powder-coated frame designed by Peppermint Products. It attaches to the magnetic grid on your wall with a satisfying ‘click’ allowing you to remodulate your composition with ease.
The rest is ‘magic’ – we promise that this is a lot simpler than it sounds.
Modul Art is environmentally friendly:
1. The reproduction is ‘made in Germany’ and it fits into a really small (62x62x20cm) package. This means the transport-carbon-footprint is kept at an absolute minimum.
2. The canvas of each reproduction is made from SEAQUAL®YARN a high quality 100% post-consumer recycled polyester yarn containing up-cycled marine plastic.
3. The frame is made of recycled and infinitely recyclable steel, just in case you end up hating your art piece, it will be made into another product. Read the details here.
4. The core frame and the canvas on the original artwork is 100% organic – the wooden structure is made from fast growing pine, so no harmful substances here either
